SUMMARY:Alban Gerhardt (cello) and Steven Osborne (Piano) – CMS
DESCRIPTION:After Schumann at his most romantic and the cascading emotions of Schubert’s lyrical Arpeggione sonata\, music inspired by the rhythms and cultures of Spain is prefaced by Debussy’s set of six pieces dedicated with great tenderness to his small daughter. \nWhen pianist Steven Osborne suggested a concert with his regular duo partner\, cellist Alban Gerhardt\, we knew this was an opportunity not to be missed.

SUMMARY:Pittville Pump Room Comedy Club – November
DESCRIPTION:Age 18+ \nRemember\, remember it’s the 15th of November (doesn’t quite have the same impact of the 5th but you get what we’re trying to do here). \nThe only thing blowing up around here is more fantastic stand-up at our regular stand-up comedy club! \nNovember fun-fire-crackers are Steve Day\, Jules O’Brian\, David Arnold and compered by the fantastic Suzy Bennett! \nDo note that lines ups are subject to change. \nSteve Day\nSteve Day describes himself as Britain’s only deaf comedian\, if there are any others he hasn’t heard. Actually there are a couple of others who have started since he wrote that joke\, but it’s only a joke after all. \nFor the past eleven years Steve has been performing to huge laughter around the country and abroad\, well they tell him the laughter was huge to humour him\, he doesn’t know either way. \nSteve Day is a truly unique comedian – warm\, witty and engaging whilst dealing with the dilemmas of being a deaf man in a hearing world. Steve went on his first national tour back in 2006\, and has since been performing across the world to critical acclaim. \n“Revelatory and very funny” – The Guardian\n“Wonderful” – Bath Chronicle\n“Warm\, funny\, frank and thought-provoking” – The Scotsman \nSuzy Bennett\nFormer Butlins Redcoat and proud Devonian Suzy Bennett ‘accidentally’ won the prestigious Funny Women Award on her 6th gig and has kept the laughs\, and her Janner accent\, going strong ever since\, performing around the UK as well as overseas hosting large events as well as tour support for big name acts \nIn 2021 Suzy and fellow Plymouth Comedians launched ‘Plymouth Comedy Tours’ which has been selling out and receiving rave reviews on Trip Advisor which inspired them to create Christmas Special comedy tours which sold out like hot pasties! \nWinner of the Funny Women Award. \nTour support for Russell Kane. \n‘Suzy is Delightful company’ – Metro\n‘The physical presence and panache of a young Dawn French’ – Chortle\n‘Suzy is a Charm Bomb’ – Russell Kane \nDavid Arnold\nDavid Arnold has been a firm favourite of audience goers in the Westcountry and beyond\, with a smiley\, excitable delivery style that has everyone in stitches. In his ten years on the circuit he has shared the stage with some of the biggest names\, performed at world-renowned festivals and even starred in a summer season in Torquay! 2020 was a breakout year – he appeared in a Channel 5 documentary\, reached the final of the prestigious Beat the Frog in Manchester\, performed at the London Palladium and was crowned winner of the British Comedian of the Year for the South West Region. \nJules O’Brian\nBrummie-based Jules performs around the country\, telling anyone who will listen about ageing disgracefully\, body hang–ups\, parenting\, and dating. This former teacher’s relaxed\, chatty style\, crowd interaction and warmth\, all served with a sardonic wit\, make her a natural crowd-pleaser.\n“Funny as f” Mama Life Magazine\n“Splendid… a quality performance” Notts Comedy Review\n“Slick writing with a twinkle in her eye.” Scott Bennett \nPlease note\, a £2 ticket commission fee is included in the price of the ticket.

SUMMARY:Gould Piano Trio – CMS
DESCRIPTION:The Gould’s long-established reputation as one of our leading piano trios has been built not only on the quality of its music-making but also on the eclectic nature of its repertoire. \nThis is well illustrated by tonight’s programme\, which includes a work from 2012 by the respected Scottish composer Helen Grime and a delightful trio by the now completely overlooked 19th century German composer Heinrich August Marschner.
